You only have one life, so live a life of meaning
When will enough be enough? What will have to happen before you realize that we are all in our one and only chance at it? It’s happening now, and we don’t get do-overs. When will you stop settling for less than you deserve? Commit to living a life of intention, significance, and meaning.
Work-life balance is a fallacy. Work is a part of your life. Your life should be lived intentionally. Your work has meaning, and it should add to your life. Your business is more than a place to go to work. It’s a place to make your dreams real.
If your business isn’t serving your life, then it’s most likely consuming it. A business that’s serving your life, creates, more, Life!
How do you go from working for your business to a business that works for you?
Your business is a reflection of you, so that’s where you should start. With you. Start the process of business transformation by asking questions.
- Who are you, what really matters to you?
- Why do you do this work?
- What inspires you to work in the landscape industry?
- It is not important what it is. It could be your love of design, nature, plants, or the thrill of seeing concepts come together that create something way larger than the sum of its parts.
- Could be your passion for helping others and for connecting in a thoughtful way.
What matters is that you become aware of it.
Although it may sound counter-intuitive, having a business that serves your life isn’t about creating more or better systems, it’s not about finding better people, or getting more sales. It’s about knowing what you value, what you find meaningful, and what you want to share with the world. Build the foundation of your business around things that are vitally important to you.
